29 Things to be Grateful for at 29

Happy Thanksgiving one and all. Though generally thanksgiving isn't something I celebrate, this was a post that was inspired by a friend who did her own blog post about 25 Things to be Grateful for at 25. I thought it would be cool for me to do something similar and write some things i'm thankful for now being 29 (damn i'm going to be 30 soon). So here we go, some things i'm grateful for given each year I've been blessed with.

  1. My Tri-Force, three of the best friends a guy could ever ask for who have been and continue to be with me as I go through every stage in life.
  2. My younger brother, whom has been one of my biggest supporters and someone I pray I continue to inspire.
  3. My family, for helping me become the person I am today.
  4. Past relationships, without which I would be more closed off and have a lesser understanding of myself and others.
  5. Technology, for all the great things things and possibilities it holds.
  6. Online reviewers, who help alleviate my indecisiveness when buying something.
  7. Nature, in all its beauty and splendor.
  8. The sky, always reminding me that we are all connected.
  9. The moon, which always reminds me how an entity can have many faces and each appreciated in its own way.
  10. The sun, those days when feeling it's warmth relaxes me to my core.
  11. Soothing winds, for making me feel alive and at peace.
  12. Music, there has always been a soundtrack to play for each stage in my life.
  13. Art/Drawing, without which I would never have been able to express myself as a child.
  14. Games, without which I honestly don't know where I would be now.
  15. Anime, for inspiring me to go out into the world and experience a completely different culture.
  16. Books, for always being a place where my imagination can soar freely.
  17. My students, seeing their smiles and talking with them is one of the simple pleasures that takes me from day to day.
  18. My coworkers, who welcomed this strange foreigner and who make me feel like a part of a group.
  19. My apartment, my own personal space which is my ultimate refuge.
  20. Basketball, my absolute favourite sport, no other sport makes me feel a greater rush.
  21. Seasons, which I've never truly appreciated until I started to live in Japan.
  22. Jamaica, my birthplace and no matter what will always be my home.
  23. Ramen, for being the real winner in the food category in Japan.
  24. My dogs, Riku and Kasumi, who I miss very much and would love nothing more than to sit outside gazing at the sky while petting their heads.
  25. The silence and peace walking through the city in the early morning.
  26. The Bible and it's many words of comfort and advice which take me through some tough times.
  27. My father, who never gave up on me and instilled in me many things that I will be forever grateful for.
  28. Jesus Christ, my savior in whom I trust and wish I could lead a life as spiritually strong and faithful as He did.
  29. God, my creator and the one whom I give thanks for my life and all things good and bad, because everything happens for a reason.

There you have it. It can be so easy to focus on the negative things happening around us. I think it is very important for us to sit and think about the good things and what we can be grateful for in our lives. What things are you grateful for? Feel free to reach out and let me know.
